Blog updates
This experiment is going well. Couple of adjustments as I keep it going, including a name change and revised schedule.
I have been having a great time with this blog so far. It has allowed me to connect with friends I have not seen in decades and have heard from strangers who are expert in our field with much to teach me.
Two big changes. First, UnReserved, the original name for the blog, has a pun already in use by both the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
I have thus rechristened the blog PCB Central. PCB is me, Peter Conti-Brown, not a printed circuit board or polychlorinated biphenyl. Central because central banking but also all the other topics and ideas that are central to me, principally banking, history, business education, religion, powerlifting, guitars, and triathlons. The whole blessed tumult that is the point of this blog.
Also, I had originally envisioned writing a piece a week that takes a deep dive into financial and political history (see here for my overview of charter revocation in World War I). That’s the weekly post that is both the most time consuming and, by far, generated the least interest.
The new schedule is as follows:
Monday Links. Links to things I am reading and thinking about, with short commentary.
Tuesday Business School. I love my work as a scholar and teacher at Wharton and think there is value in discussing more of these topics with a broader audience.
Wednesday Deep Dive. This is usually going to be about financial regulation, financial history, and my other research interests.
Thurs-Fri-Sat-Sun Personal Post. At some point during the end of the week I am will post a personal essay about something removed from my professional life, from parenthood to religion to powerlifting to more.
So that’s my update. I am going to evaluate whether this blog sees 2025 in December. So far so good - spread the word and leave a comment.
