This week marks the first full week since the blog launched. Yesterday I teased my proposed schedule and asked for help in naming it. Thanks for the email and comments on the latter point. I’m pleased to announce the arrival and christening of the UnReserved blog. (Hat tip to the great historian Brett Rushforth for the name. Fun fact, Brett has known me longer than I have known me and is one of my older brother’s closest and oldest friends.)
Here’s a preview of the week ahead.
Monday Links - about Brazil, Mormons, Elizabeth Warren, the Guild Starfire IV and changes to the regulations governing the bench press.
Tuesday Business School - I tell the story of how I ended up a business school professor. It’s been a journey.
Wednesday Banking - a deep dive into what the Supreme Court’s decision overruling Chevron means when it intersects with the Federal Reserve’s historic reluctance to get tough on regulated banks, using the recent (melo)drama of Basel III as a case.
Thursday History - I tell the story of how the OCC roughed up some banks to get them to do more to fund World War I, a story that ended up on the cutting-room floor as Sean Vanatta and I finished our recent book on bank supervision.
Friday Personal - I am going elk hunting in a few months for the first time. It’s a bit of a left-meets-right in the interface between motivation (environmentalism) and activity (dudes with guns killing elk for food).
As always, I want to hear from you as I launch this experiment. Comments and email open.
Looking forward to Tuesdays!
Great historian, lol, but thanks! It is, unarguably, the correct name. Looking forward to your posts!
